What’s up guys? Welcome to the NRSNG Fundamentals course. I just wanna say welcome and introduce myself. My name is Kati Kleber and I’m gonna be your instructor. So, just so you know a little bit more about me, I have my Bachelor’s degree. I am a certified critical care nurse. I spent two years in cardiac step down followed by 4 years in a neurosurgical intensive care unit. I have experience as a preceptor, a charge nurse, I was a chair of various shared government facilities and I did obtain my sort of critical care certification. I am part of the NRSNG team. I’m a course instructor, I’ve done the mental health, as well as the OB and many others. And I also edit some of the content on NRSNG. In addition to my NRSNG life, I have written 3 books for nurses, or 2 for nurses, 1 for patients. I am also a nurse blogger. I do some podcasting that you can see here. This picture is after I did some facebook live with NRSNG. I also do some speaking. I’m also married and I have my little baby here, Hannah, she’s a year old. And so, that’s just a little bit about me.
So, let’s chat a little bit about how this course is structured. So, there is an outline. It is quite long. So, I took kind of, I wanted to make things as concise as possible. So, I took each topic, tried to take the very important things and create this outline. The outline consist of an overview, followed by NCLEX points. So, and as you see me going through various power points to go through each module. So, each module has, depending upon the topic, we decided to make, to do some in powerpoint lecture form like the one that you’re watching right now, and some that are simply audio files and then a few more that were simply just simply transcripts. Some things that are so straight forward that we didn’t wanna waste your time with having to listen to another audio file. You can just take a look at the written down aspect. Some are just plain audio and some are this. It kinda just depends upon the topic and what we felt would be the best way to communicate that information. But, at the end of the day, you have this large outline of each topic as well to supplement those audio files and powerpoint lectures. I encourage you as you are going through these modules to have that outline up and available so that you can kinda go through it as I’m going through some powerpoints or some audios and that you can make some notes as needed to really kind of connect what I’m talking about with your experience. I also have some various tables and charts throughout to kind of organize things, to hopefully make them make more sense. And we also have some cheat sheets. And at the end of some of these or actually within the outline at the beginning, I also have a category called ‘Other NRSNG or Other Resources.’ So, we have some podcasts that are bright. We also, with our academy, it’s relatively large and there is some overlap with some topics. So, I made sure to put those in there as well. So, if you wanted to dive deeper into it, you can, you know, kind of navigate over there as well, to check out what we have there. And quite a bit of this text in the Fundamentals course, overlaps with my unofficial NCLEX podcasts where we go through the NCSPN test, NCLEX test plan point by point, that they tell instructors your students need to know advance directives. Okay, so, I have a podcast about advance directives. And then, we also have our powerpoint and our outline about advance directives. So, we’re hoping to really take all of these information and put it together in various learning formats that makes sense. So, I encourage you to have that outline printed out as you’re going through and making notes and connecting things and downloading the cheat sheets, taking some quizzes and doing all that. So, thank you guys so much and I hope you enjoy the course.
